Candy

Batterton

Candy Batterton is a Mystical Shamanic practitioner specializing in Peruvian Shamanism.

Candy has been in the realm of ceremony and mysticism for over 30 years. First as a seeker on her own healing journey and then as a student and graduate of the Four Winds Society.

She attributes most of who she is and how she shows up in the world to her initiations. They have come from her extensive time, ceremony and teachings she has accrued in her time with the Inka medicine men and women of Peru and Linda Fitch. Candy works with integrity and as close to Source as she can.

Each pilgrimage, healing and rite of initiation she has participated in unearthed the medicine that lives in her, that much deeper.

Her personal healing journey started with Michele Rix with one on one work and being involved in her weekly group meetings. Then Michele brought her into the world of ceremony which involved working with Mary Thunder and Blue Star Inc. and stepped into her healing through ceremony and her commitment to Spirit by answering her souls call. Candy fulfilled her commitment by completing her personal vision quests, participating and helping with traditional sweat lodges, dancing and singing and drumming at woman's dances and being a supporter for all the dancers (especially her husband who danced at Crow Dog's Paradise on Rosebud Reservation), singers, security, and all that came to eat a meal at Crow Dog's Paradise Sundance. She has been blessed to have experienced both the North and the South indigenous peoples' cultures, ceremonies and teachings which make up a large part of what she brings forth in her ceremonies and personal sessions. She is a carrier of both a Mesa and a Chanupa.

Candy has been blessed to work with and study with Sandra Ingerman, Rebecca Campbell, Cissi Williams, Don Francisco Churo Flores, Jorge Luis Delgado, Vilma Pinedo, and last but not least Don Mariano Quispe Flores and his son Don Santiago. Don Mariano is who Candy has studied with for the last 4 years and she brought a group to Peru to work with him. She also had the privilege to sponsor him in the States 2 years ago. She has been handed down initiations directly from Don Mariano and processes for doing personal work with people including the Saminchakuy Ritual she facilitates for an individual.

Candy facilitates bi-monthly ceremonies within her community to create a safe container for those who wish to make a prayer for their life and the global. Ceremony for her is the gift that she can bring through her, she creates this by opening herself up to be a hollow bone and instrument for prayer. The Fire, Water and Despachos ceremonies allow participants to accept the invitation to sit with the Creative Force and the highest part of themselves and make prayers to effect change and healing in their lives. It is truly this type of invitation that Candy attributes to her still being here on this planet at this time and why she is so passionate about extending this invitation for others.

Candy offers private sessions for people to be another way to assist people when they need more support to create the healing and change they are looking for their lives to come back into wholeness. Her number one goal is first to take them through ceremony to learn that they are able to create the magic they need for themselves. Empowerment is at the core of her service with people, through the understanding of choice and empowerment is the way back home to a persons Authentic Self or Return to Factory Settings as I like to call it.

I am also certified in Reiki level 1 and 2

I am also a hairstylist/manger for over 38 years which I believe was the beginning of my apprenticeship of working with energy

Origin Story of Shaman Candy

How Shaman candy began was my journey as a young, angry, suicidal and lost girl. I had found a therapist who shared something with me after being diagnosed with being bipolar. He shared that I had this internal voice inside of myself that was stronger than my conditioning and diagnosis. This voice I learned later was the voice of my higher self/the God part of me.

After conventional therapy wasn't able to bypass my strong ego/will, I found my first teacher Michele who worked with me doing hypnosis. It worked best for me to bypass my incredibly strong wall of protection I had built up. She was the first person to teach me how to step my ego aside for a little, giving me the availability to be able to let what was up for me to come to the surface. That which I hid even from myself. I had become a very proficient liar always sharing that I was fine. Does that sound familiar?

Michele taught me how to be in relation not only myself with but Spirt. She instilled in me a way to not only communicate with Spirit but challenged me to achieve the unbelievable, to want to be alive and find my worth. Michele was also my introduction into the world of ceremony and an indigenous way of being in relation to the world.

The introduction to Ceremony came through the invitation to attend my friend and Michele's daughter, wedding and to go all in for it. That included the Indigenous way she would be married by Mary Thunder , not just as the hairdresser to do her hair and makeup. This meant to make prayer ties and go into a sweat lodge for preparation for the wedding. I had no desire to do the sweat lodge as I was very much a city girl and it held no appeal to me. This was the invitation by Spirit I had no idea about, that is how things had come to me at the time through almost trickster energy to bypass my incredibly strong and wounded ego.

The invitation and my soul met that day beginning with the making of the prayer ties with the women who were there to support her. The moms, aunties, family and friends who gathered and shared stories, prayers and heart was so amazing for me to be in that sisterhood I had never experienced. I had first accepted my invitation to drop into my heart and be vulnerable.

Then came the day of the wedding and we went into the Sweat Lodge and when the door/opening of the lodge was closed, and the water was poured and the singing began I began to weep. I cried the entire time I was in there with each prayer, the scents, the memory coming up in me, welling up in me and then I heard the audible words of Spirit for the first time "You are Home." I had come back to home to myself and my connection to Source Consciousness/Spirit, the true essence of myself that I had been seeking. At the time I took this voice literally that it meant sweat lodges and those types of ceremonies, what I have come to after 30 years of ceremony is it meant coming back to my Authentic Self which happens to be an indigenous way of being and walking in this world. That is the gift I feel humbled and honored to bring into the world for others to drink of this type of nectar for their soul and journey.

This experience altered and changed the trajectory of my life. I went on to make the commitment to do my personal vision quests of honoring the four directions and my gratitude quests. I have quested 6 times seeking the vision for myself and a greater connection to Spirit and the interconnected realm of the invisible world. It completely changed how I showed up in the world and to understand my impact and be responsible for my experience of the world I was creating. I then joined in on Woman's dances and sang, danced and made prayers for myself, my family line and the collective. I supported my husband and fellow Sundancer's at Leonard Crow Dog's Sundance on the Rosebud Reservation for 3 years. I was blessed to be in ceremony with some amazing elders, teachers and fellow journeyman in this wild ride called life. My husband held traditional sweat lodges and pipe ceremonies over the years and I supported him. I was gifted my own Chanupa and am a carrier of a Pipe.

I went on to continue my growth and went to many You Can Heal Your Life conferences and that is where Spirit guided me into an introduction class with Alberto Villoldo that had me sign up for a week long class which I had no idea was a training to become a shaman. Like I said Spirit had to trick me at times so I could overcome my limiting beliefs about myself and situations. I completed by training and went to Peru where I fell in love instantly with everything. The place, the people and the medicine I was being initiated into. I had learned to go to as close to source to see for myself what it felt like and spoke to me and I instantly had a heart connection and sense of Home again. I was meeting another part of me that was waiting to be birthed and brought out into the world to be of service.

That is when I answered the call to start ceremonies in my community to offer others this gift and invitation to effect change in their lives and the collective. My Path of Service has included the ceremonies that flow through me, personal one on one sessions with people, and bringing in some amazing teachers to my community; Linda Fitch who I continue to sponsor and assist in her workshops, Victoria Johnson has come and facilitated her gifts and rites, I had the privilege to host Jorge Luis Delgado twice her and bring a small group to Peru to study with him, and I sponsored my teacher Don Mariano Quispe here in the states 2 years ago and brought a group to Peru to work and be in ceremony with him and drink of his nectar 3 years ago.

My story is steeped in walking the path of the wounded warrior, doing my work and taking responsibility for my life, and bringing my authenticity, love and power into all that I do. My greatest teacher has been life and I have shown up for it all! My ability to answer the deepest calling within myself, bring up to courage to move forward, and faith in the unknown are the nectar I can share with you through story, ceremony and sessions. I am constantly a work in progress and so is the work that I do, my ceremonies and offerings continue to evolve also.
